It's March 12th and I decided to see if I could find the Ghost Town of Columbia, AZ
The desert is starting to really bloom with wildflowers.
And, the colors in the hills are spectacular!
This is all private land, and this guy has a gold mine just above the old town of Columbia.
There is no AC power lines out here so solar is the new option.
I was trespassing on private property before I got to this side of the gate.
Another private residence.
A little ocotillo forest.
I have to climb that road to get out of here, or turn back.
Old Joe Saguaro was showing me his best dance moves.
Humbug creek. It is dry most of the year, but this year it is really flowing good! I took a big drink of it's water, and it was delicious with just a slight hint of alkali.
The BLM has allowed a mining operation to work the area and they are really messing it up.
I sure hope they have to restore it back.
These are the guys doing the damage.
Their equipment is on the town sight of Columbia. Unfortunately, they have already destroyed some of the history of the place.
Remember that big hill I needed to go over to get out of here?
Well, the surface was loose, the rocks were big, the ruts deep, and the grade steep!
Guess I'm turning around. Ain't I the one who always says you aren't having fun on a dirt bike if you don't drop it now and then? I must be having a BALL!!!
They told me that the guy who wrote this sign can't spell too well..........
.............., but he shoots real good!
